It may be that you need anonymous help. There are many possibilities in the Netherlands and when you are looking for help, it is good to think about what you find important and nice.
Why anonymous help?
You can have different reasons why you prefer to get anonymous help first, for example:
Shame: you may prefer to talk to someone you don't know without obligation and anonymously at first because you are very ashamed of your gambling problem.
Accessibility: with anonymous help you do not have to give all your details right away, which makes it easier to quickly ask a question, share your story or request information without too much fuss.
Freedom: if the anonymous help is not what you are looking for, you can easily stop. Although it is of course nice to indicate that you are no longer interested.
Which form of help?
There are so many possibilities that it is useful to know exactly which anonymous forms of help there are and how they work.
Anonymous self-help groups
These support groups are often led by experts and usually take place on a weekly basis. Sometimes the 12-step method is used, this is an effective method to get rid of an addiction in 12 steps.
