Investing vs gambling
Gambling and financial products are very similar in terms of risk. With legal financial producers, you can think of life insurance and premium loans. With risky products, you can think of pyramid schemes and ponzi schemes. With financial products, people are informed about the risks they face. They are helped to make informed and responsible choices.
Gambling is about the short term, you get your money back quickly or lose it. Investing is about the longer term, over years. If you invest in the short term, it may well be more like gambling than you might think. We call that speculating. So you can also become addicted to investing.
